This room is the
summation of a
long sojourn
A travelling to
distant shores
The lost arc
never found
The artefacts are
rich with the energy
of reserve and bush
desert and barren plain
Horizons which
stretch forever
enclosing
the known and the
unknown
This small place is
a period at the end
of a sentence
A warm enclosure
for old memories
and dreams

ReplyDeleteSome excellent lines, LC. Your opening sets up the metaphor very well and I liked:
ReplyDeleteHorizons which
stretch forever
enclosing
the known and the
unknown
Rich with imagery...especially like the last stanza.
ReplyDeletea period at the end of a sentence. It's nice when the end is one of comfort.
ReplyDeleteThis small place is
ReplyDeletea period at the end
of a sentence
.... that really just works so powerfully well - on so many levels ....
.... in fact, the more times I read this, the more I really like it - and for me, the poem actually ends here .... but that's just a personal favoritism.
yes, a journey, on all kinds of levels ~ how interesting - and I like the image you've chosen, reminds me of Van Gogh's room too.
Beautiful!💜 You have brought the room to life with rich tone and imagery! Love "Horizons which stretch forever enclosing the known and the unknown."💜
ReplyDeleteLooking at the picture, I wonder if Kandinsky was short-sighted, Ellecee! Unlike your poem, which has clarity and depth. You've taken the colours and turned them into 'reserve and bush / desert and barren plain / Horizons which / stretch forever. I also love the lines:
ReplyDelete'This small place is
a period at the end
of a sentence'.
Nice symbols for rest and pause. Makes the painting come alive
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Sounds very cozy, and it makes me want to live in the painting!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. 'This small place is a period at the end of a sentence'. Such an excellent line. What a home or a room should be.
ReplyDeleteI like for the room to be a warm enclosure for old memories and dreams." Mine certainly is, if only I could find things there.
ReplyDelete..
This small place is a period at the end of a sentence.. love that!!
ReplyDeleteLovely writing which really does fit the painting.
