Journey

Day #29 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

Theme: Journey

First of all I want to say how much I have enjoyed this journey. I came upon it by accident and suggested it to my friend, Striker, who writes Haiku so well. I myself usually write other forms so I have enjoyed the learning process.

I also want to thank you all for your comments and your encouragement. It has meant a lot to me.

A month long journey
challenges along the way
to perfect Haiku

What is the result?
Journey of twenty-nine days
Some pithy Haiku

A new season breaks
After winter's long journey
A robin feeding

Stacte

Day #28 - 2012 Haiku Challenge
Theme or Word: YOUR BLOG NAME
STACTE - (Old Testament) one of several sweet-smelling spices used in incense
FORM: Free Choice - I chose - Villanelle
(A1,b,A2),(a,b,A1),(a,b,A2),(a,b,A1),(a,b,A2),(a,b,A1,A2)
Photograph compliments of Dreamstime.com

Stacte, sweet spice for writing be
My stimulus for sharing thought
My muse I share with those who see

Making incense of my words is key
So many themes, no stopper's knot
Stacte, sweet spice for writing be

Words to drink like fine chablis
and some with love and danger frought
My muse I share with those who see

I make no promise but yet may plea
for other creations I have wrought
Stacte, sweet spice for writing be

Not all who visit will agree
with each message you have brought
My muse I share with those who see

So then this blog is now set free
and thus, my stewing pepper pot,
Stacte, sweet spice for writing be
My muse I share with those who see

Stacte, the sweet spice
awakens my latent muse
infusing Haiku

Paint the Image

Day #27 - 2012 Haiku Challenge
Theme: Paint the Image
Form: Haiku

 Open sesame
Star of David on the gate
Barren and empty

Questions asked later
Symbol of the Holacaust?
Gated forever

Star of unity
Rendered on an open gate
Truths may rest beyond

Food for Thought

Day #26 - 2012 Haiku Challenge - Theme - Food for Thought

Poverty and pain
Beside blissful abundance
So does the world turn

See children suffer
See a child of abundance
Food for thought

Opposites attract
Compassion we can measure
Ignorance abounds

Dream Walks

Day 24 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

In the light of day
my dream walks and talks with me
unrequited love.

Remember winter
as your dream walks into spring
Icicles melting

It's too soon, too soon
I feel our dream walks fading
All flights leave at noon.

Joy of Giving

Day 23 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

Contemplating you
the idea of a man
who compliments me

Who compliments me
This constant man, the source of
my joy of giving

My joy of giving
centres on these wistful thoughts
contemplating you.

Unexpected gifts
Reflect the joy of giving
Ask nothing returned

Ask nothing returned
No expectation of gain
Generosity

Generosity
Never to see rescinding
Unexpected gifts

Dancer's Feet

Day #22 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

The dancer's poised feet
before the sound of music
Caught in the moment

Await the music cue
The mind already dancing
Strike a dancer's pose

Practicing the art
soon her time is coming
Anklets catch the light

"Live out of your imagination, not your history"

Day 20 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

Imagination
Lived many hours in time
Stories I borrowed

Not your history
Make no apologies for
Candy, spice and vice

Imagination
Living out of my head now
An old poet sings

Seasons

Day 19 - 2012 Haiku Challenge

Spring as renewed life
all of Nature sowing seeds
Sprouting future hope

Frosted fingers, mine,
Breath fogging my glasses now
Crazy for the cold

Intermediate
The sun's rays on my body
Summer in the North
