To a stranger
she appears lost
seen struggling through
the dense underbrush of
their perceived doubt
she seems confused
out in the open
away from the protection
of supporting friends
she is vulnerable
so they thought
but unknown to them
she has a map
her course is clearly marked
a crooked line highlighted
with a black pen
her destination marked
with a red star
"ellecee"

I love the energy and certainty that emanates from your poem, and its promise... a life--a trip--with a purpose and clear route can be such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteLovely read :)
ReplyDeletelove the stellar close...
ReplyDeleteWhistles!! ❤💜 This is absolutely incredible writing, Linda :D I adore how you describe what she seems on the outside with reference to 'struggling through the dense underbrush of their perceived doubt' whereas she is actually pretty confident and her 'her destination is marked with a red star' Beautifully rendered. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support ❤💜
ReplyDeleteLots of love,

I think dogs have a better understanding where they are than us, but they do get waylaid with such exciting scents which take them a bit off track. I really loved walking in the wild with my dog and this poem brought back memories Ellecee.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I love to wander through this world apparently aimlessly...but I always know I'm headed where I should be :D XXX
ReplyDeleteA real marvel, this. Taken away by words
ReplyDeleteNot all who roam are lost.. A beautiful description of the wanderer.
ReplyDeleteWe have our own paths..our own ideas marked in black pen - perhaps that is our being..whether woman or dog.. we must take the route we choose for ourselves - superb poem
ReplyDeleteSo often we assume. Like the way you show decisiveness, direction and a clearly marked destination in this lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteLooking to the star is an awesome under current running through
ReplyDeletemuch love...
