Haiga is a Japanese art form combining haiku, written in calligraphic script, with a painting. The painting may not be an illustration of the poem. Instead, the poem and the painting may be in juxtaposition to one another — so that their contrast may create fuller meaning.
I am watching
ongoing forbearance
Expected gifts
Your heart, your spirit,
your desire
holds me in this place
this state
somewhere, halfway between
fantasy and realty,
on the brink of discovery
for two, I and you, moving
through to another time
another place, a shared
adventure, unimagined
before now
this friendly precipice
from which we will
both jump
without parachutes
into the abyss
