Mac & Cheese

Plated memories

Macaroni and cheese

Who could imagine?

(Maybe a few)

Always on anniversaries,

birthdays, mood days,

and more

She baked it for the children

Her daughter begged the recipe

It was not like “ordinary”

Mac & cheese, she said

Now it’s her daughter who bakes

Better than her’s

Everything improves when

passed on

Who would have thought?

A recipe fuelled with love,

all these years

a cliche perhaps

No matter, with each serving

Memories come, new ones

are made

Nostalgia burns

5. Comfort/dis-comfort food
Write a poem describing a scene
that involves comfort food and the
 solace it gives you.

Inuendo

The pungent scent of
cherry blossoms
dissipates as she leaves
the park
She’s been reflecting
Innuendo has it that she
has lost again
The old refrain repeated
over and over
She could almost
feel nostalgic
“Unlucky at love”
“bitter and aging”
She smiles
Almost benevolent
toward gossips who
can’t perceive
her joys repeated
again and again
Because of her courage
to flow
and grow
and
let go

Mia Tenda

(my tent)

Nostalgia
overcomes me
a longing
for my wilderness
home
I ruminate on
the trees
the lake
the moldering leaves
my dog
The scents and scenes
slipping away
as
I rush
to catch
