Nostalgia can burn
we quickly learn
when life's injustice
we discern
we long to return
to former days
when it seemed life
had much better ways
But unless we walk
in other's shoes
we really aren't armored
with any clues
as to why their life
turned out that way
and the answer to why
they've gone astray
so give the "ciggy"
if you must
say the "good evening"
which is welcome I trust
but don't take their pain
away with you
unless there's something
you know you can do
'cause each of us has
a cross to bear
and the other guy
doesn't know why it's there
Just do your best to
have compassion
and do what you can in
an ample fashion
and life will continue
the way it should
not everything needs to
be understood.

Deletewell done ellecee. an important subject poetically expressed. so true
ReplyDeleteeverything does not have to be understood. except for the fact that everyone
usually moves away from pain, in their own way.
Thank you Paige, I agree with what you say and I thank you for your visit,,
DeleteWe desperately want other to listen to us, that sometimes we forget to listen to them. Once you do listen - while compassion is key, you are not obligated to like what you do hear. Sometimes just a little sympathy goes a long way. Respect is more than just a word spelled out in a 'pop-rock' song.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visits.
