Scents



Throughout the house
there are the scents
of things
robust or faint
old with new
comings and goings
not always mixing well
yet always present
reminding me of the
here and now
as well as
the dead
and gone

    This poem reminds me of my grandparents' house before we sold it. So many old many memories. I only wish there was time to make new.

    Smell is very evocative..there's not always a word to match..but you catch the lingering and sense of it haunting 'you' in a very effective way..Jae
