Thwarted

You came to me
a gallant muse
no expectations
of a ruse

We wined and dined
made love 'til dawn
other suitors woebegone

at the alter
we spoke our vow
our very lives
we did endow

And when we kissed
our joy complete
a woeful toad
fell at my feet

"ellecee"

I have to admit I found today's prompt difficult
from

imaginary garden with real toads
