A Child in Pain

She isn’t good with hugs

She freezes

or melts

Often

wants

to weep

Hugging is everywhere

Even strangers do it

So what does

that mean?

She thought hugs

were love

Being held

even for a moment

life giving

Now she is 

embarrassed

by her naivety

Especially 

thinking of

the little child

who waited for

what never

 came
