Doubled edged

The sword and the dove

Which are we

And does one survive

without the other

There are rules

Golden and other

Prescriptions

Laid out

Do this

Don’t do that

Each adheres

according  to his doctrine

His empathic belief

His Compassion

Or his hate

His antipathy

Or his recognition 

or not

of the other

Yet

Hope for

Integration

moves all 

onward

ceaselessly

He repeats to me a

multitude of cliches 

All true

I lie within the protection

of his arms, 

almost comforted

His empathetic attempts to

 cover my grief

 with our shared memories, 

endearing,

Would that it could be so.
