Freedom

We may, you may, I may

live in a fools’ paradise

A place where I

believe, you believe,

we believe, we are

free

But are we, you,

or me?

We can live a

whole life and

not know. I may

not know, you

may not know

Freedom

is illusive

We, you and I, can

live our lives

as if

Our, my, your, choices

are governed by

You, me, us

And within

our, my, your

small circle

this may be

But in a moment

Nature interferes

Wars erupt

Governments fail

Handouts disappear

Communities are lost

We, you, me,

are lost

 to catastrophe

Mustangs of Las Colinas, Texas

Sculptured by Robert Glen

Creating a “found poem” from this paraphrase from

“Mustangs are feral horses, which means they are escaped domestic animals. The Mustang can be docile, caring and friendly. They have an elevated sense of self-preservation observing things on and around them, which is what keeps them safe but also makes them unique.”

She is an escaped domestic animal

She is feral in her ways of being

although you may not perceive her so

as she can appear docile and homely

An elevated sense of self-preservation

keeps her safe

Her temperament makes her unique

among others less inclined to be

no longer tamed, no longer tethered,
