Movie Night

On the beach, Andy is sanding

that old boat

Red takes off his shoes and

walks  along the beach until

he  is greeting Andy

with a big smile

face to face

they embrace

Fade out

We’ve been cuddled on

the sofa totally focused

right to the end

Now

My daughter says

“So there”

“time for a drink”

I sigh

“me too”

and watch her

at the bar

tending

We’ve watched this film

 so many times

The violence, the chicanery,

the betrayals,

the escape

How do you make

so many

wrongs so right

and feel so good about it?

What is

redemption?

Redemption

“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”
from: Gone With The Wind (1939)

He
The chameleon
lollygagging
among women,
eating hearts,
smiling as victims
bleed out emotions,
 left bereft.
Relentless in his pursuits
leaving nothing
but sorrow
in his wake
But, ah, the day
of his nemeses
A Venus flytrap
luring with her beauty,
her scent, her acumen
He succumbing
The sound of his final screams
fading to nothing
as she consumes all
Speculation abounds
Is his end exorbitant for
his crimes?
But, frankly, I don’t give
a damn
Victory is mine
