Again

She is waiting

She paces the floor

til past mail time

Nothing in the box

again

What made her think

this would be different?

This time he would write

This time he would share

This time he would want her

to know

Know he is thinking of her

Missing her

He seemed so adamant

But no

Here she goes,

 dropping, dropping

Tailspinning

into grief

Again

Inspiration from

Good Universe Next Door

22. Write about what you

*don’t* know (or can’t see)

Write a poem about something

from the lens of its absence.

Watching the News

Watching the news?

She doesn’t
Reading the news?
She doesn’t

She wanted to be informed
but seeing  so much brutality,
pain, and trepidation
in her world
she became inconsolable

It’s easier being ignorant

CBC News
Global
“15 Palestinians killed
in Israeli forces raid”
“Man who set himself
on fire dies”
“West Africa’s deadly
heatwave driven by
climate change”
National
“BC man killed his
three children”
“man killed in Manor Park”
“Quebec eyed as prime spot
to suck carbon from atmosphere”
Local
“NS justice minister resigns after
controversial comments on
domestic violence”
“Fire rips through
Happy Valley, Goose Bay”
“Temporary housing for homeless
people at Shannon Park?”

Watch the news?
She doesn’t
