How peaceful I feel
the stars my umbrella
the moon my faithful guide
I being one who is able
to contemplate this
whistful scene
Not so for some siblings
lost to the bellies
of owls and wolves
Guardian of this space
spare me
that sacrifice
"ellecee"
Such an interesting perspective with the rabbit as narrator.
ReplyDeleteI love the voicve of the rabbit and hope she is spared, and stays peaceful. It's a dangerous world, for rabbits.
ReplyDeleteIt is a dangerous world for us all. A bit of Watership down in this .
ReplyDeleteI love the voice in this poem and hope the rabbit gets to admire many more moons!❤️
ReplyDeleteThe rabbit knows the way of the woods, and begs he can escape it. You have chosen a great voice for the image.
ReplyDeleteyour choice of narrative voice is wonderful - and certainly, you've painted a scene that speaks with both calm but tension ... and I particularly like the use of "lost" in the 3rd stanza, it speaks with a longing that is almost heartbreaking...
ReplyDeleteBrave little bunny, Ellecee. But in the end the food chain wins.
ReplyDelete..
Oh, I love every word.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful perspective. I love the rabbit's peaceful voice and that the stars are its umbrella.
ReplyDeleteI love the rabbits voice.
ReplyDeleteThe moon doesn't always offer safety...
