This Spring

“A small man, on a small planet, in an undistinguished corner of the Universe”

Joseph Yu

The Universe does not shudder at our causes and complaints.Spring sprouts regardless of our pain. Robins diligently search for worms; humming birds for nectar and nest sites. Nature is oblivious to car horns blaring “hello” on an empty Texan street, or singing voices breaking the silence in Italy, or a young woman in Canada leaving sandwiches for truckers on the steps of empty diners. To the Universe nothing matters concerning our existence.we, alone, create our own.

The Universe thrives
Each one must track his vision
connecting the chain

No Second Chance

Can I borrow metaphors
from imaginary toads?
To explain my no second chance
for another life
Another chance to wax eloquent
Another chance to make up
for lost causes
Is there,
unbeknownst to me,
a reprieve?
My DNA lingering
within my children,
my grandchildren,
my great-grandchildren
yet unborn
How long be that?

Ellecee

In response to today's promnpt from imaginary garden with real toads

''second," in any of its forms, is your prompt for today.  To name a few: second helpings, second chances, coming in second, seconding a motion, second sight, a second set, second in line, second child, second growth, second to none, only a second, seconds to go.....  (Of which there are approximately 2,505,600 left in this month.)

Charites

If I could speak with you
call you forward from the ether,
that I might join your circle
and speak of grace,
that you would anoint
me with it's blessings.
The grace of charm
that I would never walk alone
The grace of beauty
so that I would not offend
But more than these,
although they would assist in no
small measure in our hedonistic
world,
that you would grant me creativity,
an ability to see, to hear, to feel, to sing,
To transpose to paper
the elements of peace
bringing hope
to a world gone
fallow

Charities, known in Greek mythology as The Three Graces, goddesses of such things as charm, beauty and creativity

hedgewitch has challenged us with:
"The idea of three can appear in any form and
in any association in your poem, as long as
you incorporate the number as a meaningful
element of your piece."

во имя мира

"for the sake of Mira"

hidden in the belly of the whale
Cetus
I would mirror your journey
floating in the weightless
sea of the cosmos

 playing hide and seek
showing only at intervals
as we wait with bated breath
for you to appear

Through your luminous tail
you shed your offspring
into the waiting galaxy

You are ancient
and
fading away

soon to leave
only a nebula
hiding a
white dwarf

(translation #2)

"for the sake of the world"
ships are launched
into the weightless sea
of the cosmos
exploring the galaxies
looking for our
new home

Izzy's challenge for today
"Use as many of the below images to write a poem"
These are images from Russian Sci Fi posters.

It turns out that the poster I chose has two translations
The first is the one I found first and put my heart into
The second I found later and is probably the quotation
that actually goes with the poster. Who knew?
Please enjoy both.

I've provided two links to Mira - my muse today
